The Pantone Color Institute, who calls themselves the “global color authority”, has chosen the Color of the Year for 2017 and it’s a vast contrast to last year’s. In 2016, Pantone decided that two shades would serve as the colors of the year: Rose Quartz, a warm shade of rose, and Serenity, a cool blue. These shades were said to evoke feelings of tranquility and calm.

The 2017 Color of the Year is said to be “A refreshing and revitalizing shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings.” This yellow-green color is “nature’s neutral” and “trans-seasonal” so it pairs well with many color combinations.

From the fashion runways to home interiors and prints, Greenery is expected to be seen everywhere in 2017. “We know what kind of world we are living in: one that is very stressful and very tense,“ said Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “This is the color of hopefulness, and of our connection to nature. It speaks to what we call the ‘re’ words: regenerate, refresh, revitalize, renew. Every spring we enter a new cycle and new shoots come from the ground. It is something life affirming to look forward to.”

We, here at Documart New Orleans, are big fans of the 2017 Pantone Color of the Year and hope to see it on many printing projects. What do you think?
