For the second year in a row, OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) presents the Portland Winter Light Festival powered by Portland General Electric. In 2016, over 30,000 attendees reveled in the craft of close to two dozen artists. February 1st through 4th, 2017, Portland Winter Light Festival is slated to have 42 visual artist teams and 9 light and fire performance troupes. This free, all-ages event includes an illuminated bike ride, lantern parade and light science talks hosted by local innovators and thought leaders.
The Portland Winter Light Festival is a bright and colorful event along the banks of the Willamette River to offset the wintry Pacific Northwest weather. This nighttime event features both private and community installations on buildings and across the water. Artists are committed to making this festival a full sensory experience and fun for all. From electronics hackers to retail lighting specialists, a variety of artists will exhibit their take on art featuring light.
Be sure to follow the Portland Winter Light Festival on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for the festival’s schedule and a peek at last year’s event.
